Look

I'm not entirely happy with the aesththics but this is how it's turned out
The clouds signify that the persons in the air while they're using it
I've decided to focus on the facebook type stuff as my navigation doesn't involve that much instruction following as the machine takes you to your class so the applications give you something to do/give the first part of my project a little bit of weight.

The video is where I'm going to focus mainly on the way it flys and leaves buildings so my idea will come full circle during this part

200 Words

For this project I don't want to do something simple and just iPhone app related.

As we are allowed to set out design in the future I think we've been given the opportunity to really get create and design something beyond the realms of today's technology.

The VicPod is a futuristic navigational device that not only tells you where to go but also takes you there in no time at all. On your journey you may catch up on your social networking, your to do list, check your overdue library loans and listen to music synced from your own iTunes account.

The VicPod travels through magnetic rigs above the University to go between buildings and through pedestrian separated pathways on ground level to take you straight to your class.

To login you simply place your handprint on the screen as the VicPod scans your handprint, recognizes you and loads your victoria and personal information. From there you simply pick where you would like to go and relax.
At your destination point you simply step off of the device and once the object feels your presence leave it will log you out.

the initial design

This is what my first design looked like. I changed it because the colours were really out dated and I'm trying to do a futuristic type thing. The pink really isn't working either so I'm going to change it to a more relevant colour.
I'm thinking about putting more futuristic like buttons in but I don't want it to look to intense as I quite like the simple look

hmmhaa

Can't decide whether I want to stick with the schools green colour or change it to a different one.
Blue seems futuristic but I'm still debating whether or not to go too futuristic with my design

vines idea

Flower planting

What it looks like to plant the flowers,
The flowers growing wrongly, I can't get the middle to grow in time with the other petals
How I plan on making the vines you can intertwine between flowers. They will be green and I need to learn how to control the sizes

Feed back

Today at the interim the feedback I got was to watch Wall-e and back to the future as I could copy the movement and designs of the machines they use.

I really need to consider how the pad actually moves and goes around corners and around other people
It will do so by being on a grid for the floor part that only the pads are allowed on to eliminate the risk of hitting a pedestrian. For the air part it will also be on a pad sensitive gird that detects when other pads are coming near and slows down if they have to give way to them, much like when driving.

Zayn didn't like the idea that there would be shoots on the outside of the buildings as he(you) like them to come out of the roofs of the buildings. I think aesthetically the roof one would look cooler but it would be more practical to have them all come in at one place and then they take you to the next class inside the building. Perhaps you leave out the roof and come in the side.

Looking up peoples skirts = problem

Just having it so you stand on your phone and that itself is the pad could be a good idea. It would make it harder for people to control the device as you would have to be linked to a system (even though it worked on back to the future)
I think if this were to be my idea it would get messy and people could crash as they'd have to drive the phonepad themselves.
